Horseshoe Equestrian was established in 2017 when our family moved to the property, bringing with us a deep-rooted history in the equestrian world. Today, we specialize in caring for retired horses—many of whom come from across the country to enjoy a well-deserved, pampered retirement after giving their all in competitive careers. We feel privileged to support these remarkable animals and the compassionate owners who continue to care for them beyond the show ring.
In addition to retired athletes, we also welcome a variety of other equines, each receiving a personalized care plan tailored to their specific needs. As a resident on the property, I provide full-time, on-site supervision to ensure 24-hour monitoring and dedicated attention to every horse entrusted to Horseshoe Equestrian.

Provincial Showing Judge

I am a provincial-level showing judge with extensive experience officiating at numerous shows across the province, as well as at select national-level events. I am proud to be taking the next step in my judging career as I move onto the Candidate National Judges Panel.

Eastern Cape Media and Marketing

I currently serve on the Eastern Cape Showing Committee, where I am responsible for the Public Relations, Media, and Marketing portfolio, helping to promote and grow the sport within the region.

I have had the honour of representing both the Eastern Cape and South Africa on numerous occasions, competing as a Pony Rider, Junior, and Adult across various levels of the sport.

Full Livery for Competition Horses

We offer full indoor livery within secure, purpose-built wooden or brick stable blocks. Each horse enjoys a spacious 4m x 4m stable, providing ample room and a comfortable environment to call their own. To ensure optimal comfort and rest, stables are bedded with deep, fluffy shavings, offering warmth and support throughout the night. A carefully selected mix of high-quality roughage is provided to keep horses content and well-nourished overnight.

Trucking Services

We provide reliable horse transportation services using a spacious Sun-Pacer Jumbo Horsebox, designed to ensure maximum comfort and safety during travel. Our vehicle is fully equipped with all necessary safety features and compliance measures, and transportation is handled by experienced, knowledgeable drivers who prioritize the well-being of every horse in their care.

Volenteers/Tuition

We offer a comprehensive horsemanship program designed to teach participants the fundamentals of proper horse care. This hands-on learning experience ensures a solid understanding of essential practices, promoting confidence and competence in day-to-day equine management.

Training - Bad behavior or Habits

Understanding equine behavior is key to effectively managing undesirable habits. In many cases, what is perceived as "bad behavior" stems from underlying discomfort or stress. By identifying and addressing the root cause—often physical or environmental—these behaviors can be significantly reduced or resolved, leading to a more cooperative and content horse.

Lessons

We offer lessons across a wide range of equine disciplines, including in-hand work, turnout procedures, plaiting, flatwork, targeted exercises, lunging, and more. Each session is tailored to suit the needs and experience level of the participant, ensuring practical, hands-on learning in a supportive environment. Backing of Horses/Ground Work

Starting a young horse can be a daunting process, but with the right guidance, it becomes a rewarding journey. I offer support and training to help you navigate this important stage with confidence. Groundwork plays a critical role in a young horse’s development, laying the foundation for future training. Getting it right from the beginning sets the tone for a respectful, trusting partnership. Advice

We provide comprehensive advice and support on all aspects of horse care, including nutrition and feeding plans, muscle development, tailored training exercises, blanketing, appropriate clothing, overall comfort, and equipment selection—ensuring your horse’s well-being is prioritized at every stage. As with all services, mutual indemnity agreements are in place for the protection of both parties. Forms are available and must be signed upon request.

We offer groundwork training for horses of all levels, from beginner to advanced. Our services include exercising horses of all ages, working with horses facing behavioral challenges, rehabilitation, desensitization, and lunge work. Blue Steel Equestrian was founded in 2005 by Christopher Röhrich, whose passion for horses and the equestrian community led to the creation of the brand. Growing up on a farm and surrounded by enthusiastic riders, Christopher identified a gap in the market for high-quality, affordable equestrian apparel. After sourcing manufacturers both locally and internationally, the first product line was launched at the end of 2005, marking the birth of the Blue Steel brand.
